European Central Bank (ECB) policymaker and Slovakian central bank Governor Peter Kazimir hinted on Wednesday that he believes the ECB is approaching its first interest rate cut.
Speaking during the presentation of the Slovakian central bank’s financial stability report (FSR), Kazimir noted, “Inflation is on a good trajectory.”
These remarks have raised eyebrows as they were made during the ECB’s quiet period preceding Thursday’s policy announcements.
Following Kazimir’s comments, the EUR/USD exchange rate remained relatively unchanged, hovering around 1.0880.
