Is ¡ê.
The symbol “pound” has a basis. The L for pound comes from the Latin word libra(the weight of a pound), and the L plus the S for the Shilling (Shilling derived from Roman Solidus) becomes “¡ê”.
Britain had a “three-tier system” of pounds, shillings and pennies until 1971.
The Pound is mainly issued by the Bank of England, and the ISO 4217 code for the Pound is known as Great Britain Pound (GBP).
