Afghanistan’s is Afghani, or ANI for short.
Due to the years of war in Afghanistan, currency issuance is not entirely controlled by the Central Bank (Da Afghanistan Bank). The northern warlord Dostum issues Afghani at the same time, and the two are not equal.
The Afghani is depreciating. In 2002, one Afghani was worth 43,000 Afghani.
1 Afghani =100 poors.
Because of the war in Afghanistan, the value of the currency has been falling, and Afghanistan has now issued a new Afghani, one new Afghani is worth 1,000 old Afghani.
The notes come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Afghanis.
Now 1 equals 13.5861 Afghanis.
